Texas Hold’em Rules

Before the cards are dealt, the two players to the left of the dealer place initial bets called the small blind and the big blind in order to create a pot to play for. The small blind, to the dealers left, place a bet equal to half the smallest bet, and the big blind, to the small blinds left places a bet equal to the smallest bet.

A round of betting takes place beginning with the player to the left of the two who posted the blinds. Players can call, raise, or fold when it is their turn to bet. After the first betting round, the dealer discards the top card of the deck.

This is called burning the card and ensures that no one saw the top card. The dealer then flips the next three cards face up on the table. These cards are called the flop. After the flop, another round of betting takes place beginning with the player to the left of the dealer.

Fourth Street the dealer burns another card and plays face up on the table and the player to the left of the dealer continues the third round of betting.

Fifth Street the dealer burns another card before placing the final face up card on the table.

Final betting players can now use any combination of seven cards and start with the player to left of the dealer.

After the final round of betting, all players who remain in the game reveal their hands.

The player who made the initial bet or the player who made the last raise is first to show their cards. The player with the best hand wins.
