Lowball Poker Rules

Lowball is the same as five card draw with one exception, the lowest hand wins. There are two types of Lowball, A-5 and 2-7. Lowball is played with a maximum of eight players.

In A-5 Lowball, straights and flushes do not count and an Ace is considered low. In Deuce to Seven Lowball, straights and flushes do count and an Ace is considered high.

Each player is dealt five cards face down. There is a round of betting. Then players can discard up to five of their cards and draw new ones from the deck. After they draw, there is another round of betting.

If you want you can play where you cannot draw more than four cards, and you can only draw cards if you have an Ace. There is also a rule that to open on the first round of betting, one must have a pair of jacks or better. If no one has a pair of jacks or better, the hand is considered a misdeal.
