Draw Poker RulesThe dealer is determined at the beginning of the game. The turn goes around the table from the right. Each of the players pay some money for the ante. If you do not ante, you can sit out. The money for the ante goes in a pot in the center of the table. The dealer then deals the cards to the players face down. The player to the dealers left must open the round of betting. He has the options to place a bet, pass or fold. The turns go on to the next player to the left and so on. They also have the same options. If the players have bet and they wish to stay in the round, they must call by matching any outstanding bets. They can then raise by placing a bet of their own. The betting continues to move in the left direction. Once the dealer has placed the bet, the players can fold or call any bets. The players will also have the chance to discard. The dealer collects the discarded cards. The cards are replaced when necessary. A new game can now begin in the same way. It is then time for a ‘showdown’ for the remaining players. When the game is left with one player, they win the pot. This player is encouraged to keep his cards hidden and fold them to the dealer. During a showdown, the players place their hands face up and the best hand gets the pot. Draw poker has no wild cards and all suites have equal ranking. |
