Caribbean Stud Poker Rules

The objective of this game is to beat the dealer’s five-card poker hand with your own five-card hand. There are three player decisions in Caribbean Stud. They are how much to bet, deciding whether o Raise or Fold after seeing the dealers up card, and whether to take the progressive jackpot side bet or not.

The game starts with each player making an Ante bet. After all the bets are placed, the dealer will give each player five cards face down and five cards to himself. One of the dealer’s cards will be face up called the ‘up card’.

Depending on the strength of the player’s hand and the dealers up card, the players have to decide whether to raise or fold. A raise means to double the ante bet, no more or less. If players decide to fold the game is over and the ante bet is lost. After all the players have either folded or raised, the dealer will expose all his face down cards.

The dealer’s hand needs to qualify. If not, the players ante bets will only pay even money and all raise bets push. If the dealer does qualify, he will start to compare his hand to the players. If the dealer has the higher hand, the player will lose both bets. If the player has the higher hand the ante bets wins even money and the raise will win according to a payoff table.
